LGBT+ WOMEN'S LONDON TASTER SESSIONS
Tuesday 22nd January (Old Street, London)
WHERE TO GO?
Tuesday 22nd January: 7.30pm - 9.30pm
The Basement Hall, Finsbury Leisure Centre, London EC1V 3PU
Nearest Tube: Old Street
Note: We know it can be a bit intimidating for some people joining a new group. There is an advanced session on before the beginners class, so don't let that put you off. If you are a bit late and the warm up has already started, you are still fine to come in. Everyone is very friendly.
WOMEN'S TASTER SESSIONS
These sessions are aimed at and welcome all LGBT+ women wishing to try jujitsu. It is a mixed environment; there will be a standard mixed class running in a different part of the same space and some of the instructors will be men.
Classes going forward after this one are all mixed; the idea of the introduction session being women only is to create a space where all women feel welcome the first time the arrive and can train as a group.
If you have any more questions about these sessions, please contact us.
Free for newcomers. £10 if you've attended previously.
WHAT TO EXPECT?
Your first class will be 2 hours in total. We'll start with a warm-up and then all newcomers will be placed with an instructor (black belts).
The training will consist of a mixture of self defence techniques from various attacks - defences from punches, grabs, strangles, kicks while on the ground.
We are aware that not everyone picks up new skills at the same rate. We'll work with you as fast or as slowly as suits you. You'll never be made do any sort of technique that you don't want to.
You'll need loose, relaxed clothing - a t-shirt, shorts/jogging bottoms. We train barefoot, so you don't need trainers. We'll ask you to remove jewellery for your own safety.
There's shower and changing facilities in the venue if you want to use them. If you want to stay around after class we go to a local pub (work hard, play hard).
CAN'T MAKE IT?
New members are welcome at any class, any time (£10 per class). All classes cater for all levels, so if want to start a different day just let us know. The specific beginner days give newcomers a chance to meet as many new people as possible and train as part of a group.
