Note: We know it can be a bit intimidating for some people joining a new group. We start with a warm-up and if you are a little bit late and the warm up has already started, you are still fine to come in (though if you are very late you may be asked to come to the next taster session).
On Saturdays, there is an advanced session on before the beginners class, so don't let that put you off. Everyone is very friendly.
WHAT TO EXPECT?
Your first class will be about 2 hours in total. We'll start with a warm-up and then all newcomers will be placed with specifically trained instructors (black belts).
The training will consist of a mixture of self defence techniques from various attacks - defences from punches, grabs, strangles, kicks while on the ground.
We are aware that not everyone picks up new skills at the same rate. We'll work with you as fast or as slowly as suits you. You'll never be made do any sort of technique that you don't want to.
There is generally a group of anything from 4 to 10+ in any class and you will work with different people during the class - great way to meet new people and have fun learning a new skill!.
See what Riyadh K says and read what Boyz said about out taster sessions.
ANYTHING ELSE?
You'll need loose, relaxed clothing - a t-shirt, shorts/jogging bottoms. We train barefoot, so you don't need trainers. We'll ask you to remove jewellery/ watches etc for your own safety.
There's shower and changing facilities in the venue if you want to use them. If you want to stay around after class we go to a local pub (work hard, play hard).
COVID
Covid is still with us. So please use hand gel or wash your hands before class. For any close contact work you will be required to wear a mask at your instructors direction.
COST?
Free for newcomers. £12 if you've attended previously.
