Ishigaki Ju-Jitsu Club

A martial arts club for lesbians, gay men and their friends.

Welcome to Ishigaki’s Web page.

Ishigaki is the largest and most well established gay martial arts club in the United Kingdom.

The club started in 1994 and is still going from strength to strength. Over the years we have had hundreds of people from dozens of nationalities come along to train with us.

We like to think that our success is due to the fact that we maintain a happy and co-operative atmosphere and we welcome anyone who wishes to train with us and learn good Ju-Jitsu.

Above and beyond our weekly Ju-Jitsu classes, we can be commissioned to teach self defence courses and workshops, and have built a impressive reputation for pragmatic and enjoyable courses.

Ishigaki is more than just a sports club - we are a diverse group of friends and the club has a vibrant and thriving social scene. What primarily brings us together is the desire to learn the skills of Ju-Jitsu. This can help us to be prepared to deal with the potential prejudice and violence that is too common against people who are different.

Most people come to Ishigaki for the following reasons:

  • primarily because they have an interest in learning a martial art.
  • they want to be more confident in their day to day lives if that brings them into potentially aggressive situations.
  • they are looking for an environment that supports them as people and understands their needs.
  • they want to meet new people.
  • they have heard of the high standards we pursue and want to train with us.

If you are interested in having a go or coming to watch us we hope to see you at any of our classes OR come later on and join us at the pub afterwards.
